Next, we’ll make our way to Independence Square, also known as Black Star Square, a poignant symbol of Ghana’s independence and freedom. Here, we’ll delve into the nation’s journey to liberation and learn about the historical events that led to independence.
We’ll make our way to the historic Kwame Nkrumah memorial park to learn more about Ghana’s first President who led us to independence in 1957.
Finally, we honor artistic expression at the Art Center. This vibrant hub showcases the talent of local artisans, with an array of traditional art, handicrafts, clothing, and souvenirs. As you engage with these skilled craftsmen, you’ll experience the creative spirit that reflects Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
Central Region Tour (Sankofa Experience)
We rise early to embrace the excitement of your Sankofa experience, departing early for our first stop at the Assin Manso Slave River. This journey leads to the hallowed grounds where enslaved Africans took their last bath before being transported across the Atlantic.
Our next stop will be the Cape Coast Dungeon which stands as a poignant symbol of Ghana’s history, having served as a key site during the transatlantic slave trade. We’ll begin by embarking on a refreshing day trip to the Eastern Region to experience the breathtaking beauty of Ghana’s enchanting Boti waterfalls.
We will take a leisurely stroll through the scenic surroundings, breathe in the crisp, fresh air, feel the mist from the falls on our skin, and embrace the beauty of nature at Umbrella Rock.
Snaking through the lush Akwapim hills, the Aburi Botanical Gardens comprise great lawns planted with native and imported trees and plants. This is a wonderful place in Ghana where you can relax and enjoy nature. It’s filled with beautiful plants and flowers, making it a perfect spot to unwind.
